I was fishing near Musa Point (Karmja). A player came up to OSRS Gold us and asked for food. He is trying to finish Dragon Slayer. Someone on the dock fished/cooked 22 lobsters on his behalf. We asked him his stats as he fished/cooked 22 lobsters on his behalf. He said he was level 40 in attack, strength, defense, low rangedmagic, and 15 in prayer. A rune scimitar as well as an amulet were among his possessions. He also had anti-dragonfire shield, boots and rune platelegs.

I remembered reading about the levels of att, str/def that you should have and what armor/food/supplies to bring. I suggested that he also wear an armored helmet (runeful) in case he were fighting against Elvarg. He went for Elvarg combat. So I gave up fishing and watched the fight.

(Aside. Here's how I beat Elvarg. It's important to note that I wasn’t interested in Runescape quests at the time I played so I could have completed the Dragon Slayer quest earlier than I did. Attack 41, Strength 55, Defense 45 Prayer 43. Two potions of strength holy symbol, 26 lobsters, rune longsword, full rune helm, rune chainbody, platelegs of rune regular boots, safety gauntlets, anti-dragonfire shield.

Sal's recommendation for armor/supplies was close to my own. Anyone trying to defeat Elvarg would benefit from the same equipment and supplies, with the exception of an amulet or ability to substitute the holy symbol with a rune Scimitar to replace the rune longsword.

He did an amazing job beating Elvarg. He didn't renounce his prayer. (Aside that I can remember that Elvarg was a tough opponent to Buy RS Gold beat. The weird thing is, for all the higher att/str/def/prayer/armor I had, it seemed like he had an easier battle against Elvarg than I did. Perhaps I didn't face the dragonfire, so it was much easier for him to battle the dragon than for me. : ) Kudos to him for a job well done.
