At around 50-60, you might think about switching to some steel. I'm 70 and still have steel archers. I don't think addy or mithril arrows are a necessity.

However, even though you can, don't do the quest until you're at 50 range. If you're not having any trouble finding iron arrows at the moment this isn't an issue. The backpack collects the arrows you shoot on your walks.
