As with many others I was one of them. I first began playing RuneScape because most of my peers at the time played it OSRS Gold. The fact that it was a browser-based game was an important factor in this. Its lower barrier for entry combined with RuneScape's deep branching and complexity kept me playing the game for a long time which is something I was hoping to replicate with Melvor Idle."
With Malcolm very candid about his inspirations and his inspiration, word soon spread around Jagex that fan-made game that was based off its own MMO. A member of staff flagged it to the management team, with Director of Product Management Chris Pfeiffer telling us his team was impressed with "how much was achieved and how much of it was in line with RuneScape."
"The concept for Melvor Idle is also completely in line with our fundamental principles of what constitutes an active game that's why it's a natural match we could have," he says. "Furthermore the concept that we could give someone from our community an opportunity to make a difference has excited everyone within the company."
Pfieffer and his coworkers The group of Pfieffer and colleagues have tried Melvor Idle themselves and found it enjoyable enough to reach out to Malcolm for a discussion about the possibilities of working with Malcolm the early 2021st century.
"From just our initial conversations we learned that Brendan shares Jagex's vision for games with a community focus, and has done a great job of creating a positive and active communities around Melvor Idle. It's not often that you find such a perfect match in the search for publishing opportunities, but Brendan as well as Melvor Idle are precisely that, and so we decided to help both him and the game wholeheartedly.
He says: "We like to say that If RuneScape could be the MMO that is enjoyable while watching television, Melvor is the idle game that is enjoyable even while you play RuneScape. Melvor Idle takes RuneScape's core gameplay mechanics and breaks them down into bite-sized moments that are enjoyable even when time is a little tight in order that RuneScape players will be at the right place in Melvor osrs fire cape.But more than that, it's an exceptional idle game. Its emphasis on allowing players to determine their own course through the game allows it to stand out from the crowd of games that force players into just increasing a number of players indefinitely."
