The unfortunate thing is that Westbrook believes that he's an elite player. Westbrook took no responsibility for the team's shortcomings in his last exit interview of the season. Westbrook has an ego in basketball which is extremely difficult to break. Maybe the team the at 2k23 mt can break that illusion of ego a little bit, though. The ratings for the game are already coming out and Westbrook's current rating is not that of a star player (which he thinks he is). It's that of a rotational bench player.
Russell Westbrook was given an unflattering 78 overall rating in NBA 2K23. Russell Westbrook has the fourth-highest 2K23 rating of the Los Angeles Lakers. Westbrook is clearly behind LeBron James and Anthony Davis but he is even further behind his most recent player as well. The folks over at 2K gave Patrick Beverley a 79 overall rating, which is probably right for the position he's right now in his life.
Westbrook was has been tied with Kendrick Nunn and is slightly higher than the likes of Thomas Bryant and Lonnie Walker IV. This is an enormous loss of grace for Westbrook, but it is 100% justified. Westbrook stans will be outraged with this rating and use this box-scoring as the primary reason his score should be in the mid-to-high 80s. Anyone who has actually watched Lakers playing basketball during the season understands the blunder that this box score can be, however, and how poorly Westbrook did last year.
The former MVP has always been somewhat overrated when it comes to being a winning player (he hasn't won more than one game in the playoffs since Kevin Durant left OKC) but there was no denying his athleticism and skill set. This might at the very least be translated into 2k23 mt buy, even if it didn't make him a basketball champion in actual life.
