Blizzard has made a change to the payment method you can use to purchase World of Warcraft --going forward the only option available for Game Time is to buy it for 60 days. The 30. 90 and 180-day Game Time offerings are going away, while just 60 days will remain. Game Time's subscriptions remain in the same place (more on that in the coming days).
Blizzard stated that it's made these modifications following an "review on the current services that are available in every currency."
"We are grateful that players decide to spend their time with World of Warcraft , and we are committed to ensuring it continues to offer players great quality entertainment," Blizzard said.
For WoW subscriptions, nothing is changing. It is still $15 per month for one month or $14/month If you choose to lock in for three months. The rate goes down to $13 per month if opt to sign up for six month.
WoW remains extremely popular, over 15 years after the game's release. The brand grew in popularity in 2020 following the launch of WoW Classic that has grown into a massive online game for itself. The game's next expansion, The Burning Crusade, is now available for beta testers.
The success with WoW Classic has surprised even Blizzard who believed that it would only appeal to core fans. Executive producer John Hight told P2Pah: "It certainly shocked us."
He continued: "When we put out Classic we weren't sure whether it would be an issue or not? We had a thought that"Our fans' core are most likely to really love the game, and we should do this to them.' And then, no, it became a whole big community composed of WoW players. As large as our modern WoW community. That surprised us," Hight said. "We realized, 'Oh gosh we have to support two communities. What do we do?'"
"Suffice you to know, I'm convinced that we hold the record for having the two largest MMOs on Earth. It's an impressive community. More than we imagined it was going to be."
