This isn't the case with Lost Ark, you'll eventually need to boost your item amount by running your gear via the upgrade feature of the game. That's where the issues begin.
The higher the level of an item at Lost Ark, the more resources you'll require to upgrade it. While that's not necessarily unusual but it's also true that higher-level items are less likely to "process" the upgrade request. After a certain point, the odds of making an upgrade begin to plummet.
