At a PAX East conference, World of Warcraft Season of Discovery director Duncan Jones talked about taking on the director's duties for the film after Spider-Man director Sam Raimi quit the project. He also mentioned that the version of Raimi's World of Warcraft Season of Discovery had a "fundamental" issue and that was that it was planned to be a film which depicted human characters as completely good, while portraying the Orcs as innately evil. The depiction of the World of Warcraft Season of Discovery universe was poor, Jones said, adding that Blizzard was also of the opinion that this was not the right direction.
