Blizzard entertainment's game-changing MMO WoW Cataclysm Classic celebrates its 10th birthday in the month of March and, even though the number of subscribers might be declining however, don't be expecting Blizzard to cease supporting the game any time in the near future. Indeed, WoW Cataclysm Classic executive producer J. Allen Brack says in a recent interview that the development team for the game has never been more extensive and the studio has plans in place for several follow-ups of this month's Warlords of Draenor expansion.
"The WoW Cataclysm Classic team is 50 % larger than it was the time we launched Mists of Pandaria [in 2012"," Brack told Polygon. "We're in the process of preparing our next installment. We have already got ideas for expansions following this. There's never been a bigger group of us. Never have we been so creative regarding the possibilities that we can accomplish using WoW Cataclysm Classic."
WoW Cataclysm Classic launched in November 2004 and had 6.8 million users at the time of its June 30 release. After the Chinese launch of the game's second expansion Wrath of the Lich King The MMO's subscribers increased to 12 million players which was the highest number ever recorded for the game.
The Warlords of Draenor Warlords of Draenor is WoW Cataclysm Classic 's fifth expansion, and is already selling 1.5 million copies in pre-purchase in the first instance.
In the extensive conversation, Blizzard senior vice president of franchise and story development Chris Metzen, recalled the launch of WoW Cataclysm Classic tens years ago. Metzen said that the game's growth and success was an "high-class issue" because it has changed Blizzard into something bigger than it was initially thought of.
"Maybe this isn't fair but cheap WoW cataclysm Gold success was one of the greatest challenge we've ever faced," he said. "It was a test of our character. It was a test of our culture, expansion and complexity for an organisation that was extremely close."
