EA issued a statement regarding the issue via their official Twitter account for the Madden NFL franchise. The statement states that EA along with the development team that Mut 22 coins is behind Madden NFL is "committed to implementing actions for maintaining a culture of inclusion and fairness."
With this in mind, EA is deciding to begin the process of taking out Gruden as a player from Madden nfl 22. The change won't take immediate implementation, given the effort required. EA will remove the name, likeness, as well as any other related information or statistics for Gruden to Madden nfl 22 completely. He will be replaced by what EA calls a "generic likeness," but no further information regarding the change is given because it's not a subject of the statement. It's not clear if the generic appearance is only temporary, or if it's a necessity at all, prior to EA takes over Gruden with the temporary Las Vegas Raiders coach, Rich Bisaccia.
Gruden resigned from the Las Vegas Raiders earlier this week following the publication certain emails he'd written between 2011 and 2018.
