A video game playing in demo mode tricked me into thinking that I was actually watching the game.
I played a bit of the game later and was amazed by the game's fluidity of control and artificial intelligence. For instance, the computer did not need to use obvious speed cheating in order to slow through your ball player if it got in the way of defense. The game was played more like football than any I'd ever played before. But , despite that the most vivid and particular memories about Madden NFL was seeing it first-time and being convinced that it could be real soccer.

Prior to Madden NFL, I had nearly given up football games.
